Join Taproot on an adventure-packed 28 day journey to Indonesia. You will spend your time living with a local family, learning language, attending seminars led by local experts on interfaith dialogue, peace-building, Islam, Christian faith exploration, and Indonesian history and culture. You will also have the opportunity to explore local wonders, experience off the beaten path adventures and relax and reflect while taking in the beauty that is Bali.
Yogyakarta (Island of Java): THIS IS TAPROOT’S HOME-BASE. students will LIVE HERE, STUDY language, attend seminars, AND EXPLORE LOCAL LIFE AND CULTURE.
candi dasa (Island of bali): this is TAPROOT’S RETREAT SPACE. students will spend THEIR TIME HERE PLAYING, PROCESSING, RELAXING, AND reflectiNG.
Each day students will do a little language learning as well as engage in discussions about interfaith dialogue, peace building, and Indonesian history and culture. Below are some of the excursions & trainings that are included in Taproot’s program.

details, costs, & what’s included
June 11th - July 8th: Students will arrive in Philadelphia by 3:00PM on June 11th where we will gather together for dinner and a brief travel orientation. Everyone will arrive in back from Indonesia on July 7th. We will spend the evening together debriefing and resting before everyone departs Philadelphia on July 8th.
Cost - $2500 per person. This includes everything you will need during your time in Indonesia. We would suggest bringing extra money for your own personal use and expenses incurred while traveling abroad.
All essentials will be covered from the day of departure to our arrival back at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL). We want to make your experience simple and straightforward, so you can focus on learning about and experiencing Indonesia.
